Festival

The First Concordia Social Film Festival (spanish: Primera Muestra de Cine Social de Concordia) will be the place where movies and shorts  will be projected, with the purpose of creating a universe of gathering and participation between locals and the rest of the region.

From april 22nd to april 25th, we propose a meeting between us and the others, inside a mutual respect atmosphere, highlighting the values associated with the city of Concordia: consensus, harmony, peace, friendship, partnership, reciprocity, brotherhood, union, comradeship, accord and cordiality, with the idea of democratize audio-visual culture and open community-based reflection spaces.

We believe community participation and compromise will allow us to wipe out injustice, improve the quality of life, foster human development, equallity of oportunities, social inclusion and respect for diversity.

We propose to seek common and different topics, and know and identify ourselves with likes and dislikes by local, national and international productions.

Through several parallel activities we seek to open debates about incapacity, poverty, education, discrimination, drug abuse, prostitution, gender, environment, natives, generating a reflection space.

We boost the community and collective creation, so that during the First Concordia SFF there will be talks and capacitations, with the idea of providing the tools and make local and regional production easier.

We seek to integrate all community art expressions, so there will be displays and shows of several disciplines inside the festival.

We are involving Concordia’s childhood and youth through two lines of work: there will be projections and debates specially oriented to children and high schools.

We invite the whole of society: professionals, students, amateurs, collective and social organizations, educational institutes and all persons who wish to involve, get closer, know and know themselves, exchange ideas and experiences.

The First Concordia SFF will be tematically scheduled, and the films to be viewed will be selected by a specialized commitee, members of audiovisual media, social organizations and social actors. The call for films and shorts submissions is open from november 1st through january 31th 2010 (See terms).
